Advertisement for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in an ISRO-RESPOND project at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Belur Math – June 2026

Applications are invited from interested candidates for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI) on the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) funded project under the RESPOND program.

Project title Studies on microgravity effects on the Musculoskeletal System through a 6-degree Head-Down Tilt Bed Rest Study
PI Dr. Arnab Das, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Sports Science and Yoga, RKMVERI
Position Junior Research Fellow (JRF): 1 post
Stipend Rs. 37,000/- + 10% HRA per month
Duration The initial appointment is for one year, extendable for one more year based on performance.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Post-graduate degree in Basic Science/ Medical or Human Physiology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Exercise Physiology / Biomedical Science / Biomedical engineering/ Life Sciences / allied subjects.
  • Qualified CSIR-UGC NET, including lectureship (Assistant Professor) or GATE or equivalent national-level examination conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.
  • Minimum 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA) at the Master’s level.

Desirable:

  • Hands-on experience in biochemical analysis and molecular biology techniques
  • Prior experience in microgravity studies and/or conducting human physiological research
  • Exposure to exercise physiology
  • Proficiency in statistical and data analysis software will be an added advantage
Age limit 28 years (for General Category). Relaxation for reserved categories per Govt. of India rules.
Nature of work Screening and recruiting subjects, conducting HDT experiments, performing quantification of biomarkers, handling and maintenance of the laboratory equipment, collecting, managing, securing data, performing data analysis, and project-related
documentation.

Note: The possibility of getting registered for Ph.D. in RKMVERI Deemed to be University while being engaged in the above project is open to motivated and aspiring candidates. The decision of the University authorities is final in this regard.
