Ast. Prof. Shamik Gupta identified as an Emerging Talent by the Journal of Physics A – 2017
Shamik Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, has been identified as an EMERGING TALENT at the international level by the Journal of Physics A (Mathematical and Theoretical, IOP Science Publications). Incidentally, the Journal of Physics A is one of the premier Physics journals over the last 5 decades.
It is a matter of joy and satisfaction that Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute is the ONLY Indian Institution to make it to the list. None of the premier research institutes in India figure in the list!
About the Emerging Talents Programme
Excerpts from: Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical
Emerging Talents is a collaborative effort across the Journal of Physics (JPhys) series to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2017. The aim of this inaugural collection is to recognise the best early-career researchers in our research communities. A selected number of the most exciting researchers in the early years of their careers were invited to submit some of their best original research to this issue…
Shamik Gupta
Shamik Gupta is an Assistant Professor at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Belur Math, India. With a PhD in 2008 from Tata Institute Mumbai, he has been a postdoc/visiting scientist at Weizmann Institute, Université Paris-Sud, Max Planck Institute for Complex Systems and at ENS de Lyon, a stay he regards as most fruitful and productive. His research covers a wide spectrum of topics in statistical and nonlinear physics: stochastic processes, fluctuation theorems, quantum dynamics, synchronization phenomena, and long-range interacting systems on which he has worked extensively. He aims at understanding how long-range interactions and/or correlations determine emergent behaviors of complex systems.
