Admission to M.Phil. course in Theoretical Physics (2010-12 session)


On the basis of the performance in B.Sc. and M.Sc. (results available so far) as well as the written admission test held on 10 April 2010, the following candidates are hereby asked to appear at a viva-voce test and general interview on 14 April 2010 (Wednesday) at 11 am at the University’s main campus at Belur. They should bring with them their educational documents in original (B.Sc. marksheet and certificate, M.Sc. marksheet as far as available), age proof certificate, etc. Selected candidates will be informed on the same day after the interview and the candidates may therefore come prepared to get admitted by paying the following fees:
  1. Student registration (admission) fee (one time at the beginning): Rs.200/-
  2. 1st semester course (tuition) fee (payable at the beginning of each semester within the first week): Rs.3600/-
  3. Identify card charges (one time at the beginning): Rs.25/-
  4. Individual course registration and examination fees for the 1st semester
  • (4 courses @ Rs.200/- per course) (payable at the beginning of each semester): Rs.200/- x 4 = Rs.800/-
  • Total amount payable at the time of admission and the beginning of the first semester: Rs.(200 + 3600 + 25 + 800) = Rs. 4625/-
A limited number of seats are available at the hostel. Candidates seeking hostel accommodation should apply separately and will be given seats in the hostel depending on the availability.
  1. Hostel admission fees (one time at the beginning): Rs.200/-
  2. Hostel mess advance deposit (one time at the beginning—refundable at the end of the course for those completing the course while staying in the hostel and not refundable in the case of those who leave the hostel in the middle of the course): Rs.3000/-
  3. Hostel caution deposit (one at the beginning—refundable at the end of the course after deducting for wear and tear): Rs.500/-
  4. Hostel accommodation fee (payable per month): Rs.500/-
  • Total amount payable by hostellers at the time of admission at the beginning: Rs.(200 + 3000 + 500 + 500) = 4200/-
  • Amount payable at the beginning of each month: Rs.1500/- (for food) + Rs.500/- (for accommodation) = Rs.2000/-
  • Date and time of the viva-voce and interview: 14 March 2010 (Wednesday) from 11 am
  • Venue: University’s central building at Belur campus
